Lift Every Voice is a one-act play with music, 50 minutes in length.
The play chronicles some of the major influences
of the Harlem Renaissance (1919 - 1933).
- 1. Convergence/Collaboration/Creativity of many groups of people, black and white.
- 2. Consciousness: shift from "the suffering Negro" to African American pride.
- 3. Culture: music, poetry and politics affecting American culture and world.
